How the steering tie rod ball joint works:
The steering tie rod end is an important part of the car's steering mechanism. It directly affects the stability of the car's control, the safety of operation and the service life of the tires. Steering tie rods are divided into two categories, namely steering outer tie rods and steering inner tie rods. The steering tie rod is responsible for transmitting the motion of the steering rocker arm to the steering knuckle arm; the steering tie rod end is the bottom edge of the steering trapezoidal mechanism and is a key component to ensure the correct movement relationship between the left and right steering wheels.
The tie rod ball joint is a tie rod with a ball joint shell. The ball joint of the steering spindle is placed in the ball joint shell. The ball joint is hinged with the edge of the shaft hole of the ball joint housing through the ball joint socket at its front end. The gap between the ball joint tie rod bottom socket and the steering spindle is The needle roller is embedded in the groove of the inner hole of the ball joint and tie rod socket, which has the characteristics of reducing the wear of the ball joint and improving the tensile strength of the spindle.
The symptoms of a broken tie rod ball joint mainly include the following situations:
1. If the front wheel ball joint of a car is broken, the following symptoms will occur:
a. The bumpy road section makes a thumping sound;
b. The car is unstable and swings left and right;
c. Brake deviation;
d. Direction failure.
2. If the ball joint is too wide, it will easily break when subjected to impact load. Repair as soon as possible to avoid danger.
3. The outer ball joint and tie rod refers to the hand lever ball joint, and the inner tie rod refers to the steering rod ball joint. The outer tie rod end and the inner rack end are not connected together, but work together. The tie rod end of the steering rack is connected to the horn, and the ball joint of the hand lever is connected to the stabilizer link.
4. A loose ball joint of the steering tie rod will cause the direction to deviate, eat the tires, shake the steering wheel, and in severe cases, the ball joint may fall off, causing the wheels to instantly swing off. Taizhou Donna recommends replacing it in time to avoid safety hazards.
