The shock absorber is a vulnerable part during the use of the car. The performance of the shock absorber will directly affect the driving stability of the car and the life of other parts. Therefore, we should keep the shock absorber in good working condition. The following methods can be used to check whether the shock absorber is working well.
1. Make the car stop after driving 10km on a road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell with your hands. If it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, you can add appropriate lubricating oil, and then carry out the test. If the shell is hot, it means that the shock absorber is short of oil inside, and you should add enough oil; otherwise, it means that the shock absorber is invalid.
Second, press the bumper hard and then release it, if the car jumps 2~3 times, it means the shock absorber is working well.
Third, when the car is running slowly and brakes suddenly, if the car vibrates violently, it means that there is something wrong with the shock absorber.
4. Remove the shock absorber and stand it upright, clamp the lower connecting ring on the vise, and pull and press the shock absorber several times. At this time, there should be stable resistance, and the upward pulling (recovery) resistance should be greater than the downward The resistance when pressing down, if the resistance is unstable or there is no resistance, it may be that the shock absorber is short of oil inside or the valve parts are damaged, and the parts should be repaired or replaced.
Repair: After determining that the shock absorber has a problem or fails, first check whether the shock absorber leaks oil or shows signs of old oil leakage.
The oil seal gasket and sealing gasket are broken and damaged, and the nut of the oil storage cylinder head is loose. It may be that the oil seal and sealing gasket are damaged and invalid, and new seals should be replaced. If the oil leakage still cannot be eliminated, the shock absorber should be pulled out. If you feel that there is a pinch or the severity is different, then further check whether the gap between the piston and the cylinder is too large, whether the piston connecting rod of the shock absorber is bent, whether the piston connecting rod Surfaces and cylinders for scratches or pull marks.

How to judge whether there is an oil leak of shock absorber?
This actually depends on your own ass, please try to recall how the car feels when it is driving in a normal state (such as a new car state), and then drive the car out yourself. If you can clearly feel that the state of the wheels is a bit strange when dealing with various uneven roads, the car body feels a little indescribable when walking on flat roads, or the car always feels a bit weird when passing speed bumps. This could all be the result of an oil leak from the shock absorber.
If we suspect that the shock absorber has oil leakage, how can we confirm it? Stop the car, squat down with a flashlight (don't use a phone flash, it's not bright enough), and shine over each tire, usually you can see the shock absorber right away. At this time, the shock absorber must be gray, and the surface is covered with dust, but this is normal, let's take a closer look. Carefully observe whether the shock absorber has black sludge or dark (obviously different from the color next to it), something that looks like liquid traces, pay special attention to the top of the shock absorber, if there is, it is the oil leakage of the shock absorber. Generally speaking, if there is only a little oil accumulation, the scope is small and there is no tendency to flow down, then you can leave it alone for the time being. Of course, if it is a large-scale oil spill, then needless to say, go to the repair shop immediately.
But the above method is invalid for some models. The wheel arch fenders of this type of car are made very sincerely, and the entire wheel arch position is completely sealed. When you shine a flashlight, you can only see the fender itself, and you can't see the shock absorber at all. It's a little more difficult.
In this case, you don't need to bother, drill under the car yourself, and directly check the oil leakage of the shock absorber. Or ask the mechanic to lift the car and check the shock absorbers while doing maintenance.
